Reiki is not a substitute for medical treatment, nor is it intended to cure disease or replace medical care. Reiki should be used as an adjunctive therapy that can be very important in the healing process, not a substitute for proper treatment. For instance, if you break your arm, you need to seek medical care first, and then ask for Reiki to be directed at the broken bone to speed healing. You would not expect Reiki to set the bone for you.
